Hula is perfect for seniors as it doesn’t involve any heavy weights, running, jerking or straining to the point of exhaustion. Hula movements are controlled and performed with knees bent making it a great low-impact form of exercise. In Hawai'i, some of the most graceful and beautiful "hula girls" are in their 60's and 70's! Hula keeps you young in mind and body.
Kupuna Hula Basics - Ages 55+
Students with little or no hula background will learn basics and body strengthening. All Hula Fit students who have never danced hula must take Kupuna Hula Basics.
Kupuna Hula Workout- Ages 55+ The Hula Workout class is a recreational hula class which students can use to get and stay in shape and practice their hula skills. Class starts with 15 minutes of warmup, then moves into a series of learned hulas, ending with a 10 minute cool-down. 1st session of each month is dedicated to learning a new dance for future workouts. Some hula or dance experience is preferred. Inexperienced students may take both Kupuna Hula I and attend Kupuna Hula Workout.
