It’s the most wonderful time of the year and we’re starting to feel the Christmas joy here at Hulafit HQ. If you’re a keen bean too, you might be looking to get started on your gift shopping early so we’re here to help!
Christmas shopping can be tricky business, and if you’re a non-hooper shopping for a hula hooper, it can be extra overwhelming. Hula hoopers live in another universe with their own language – what the heck is polypro anyway?
We’ve got you.
Let’s dive into to our top 5 top favourite gift ideas for the hula hooper in your life (or for yourself!)
1. Hula hoops
This one’s a given! A hula hooper will always love a hoop because no matter how many hula hoops someone has, we promise… there’s always space for more.
For beginners and for keeping fit, we recommend our HulaFit fitness hula hoops. The extra weight and large size means they are perfect for beginners and for a fab waist workout, creating more resistance which helps to tone muscles. Plus, when you purchase your HulaFit hoop we send you a free online 5-day waist hooping challenge as a bonus!
For hoopers who like to do more advanced and off-body tricks, go for a lighter weight hula hoop made from polypro or goldilocks tubing. Check out our guide to the different kinds of hula hoops and sizes here.
The lovely Gail at Hoopspin has a huge range of gorgeous, high quality hula hoops, you’ll have no trouble finding all the colour, shimmer, and shine that you’re looking for.
For something a little different, we’re absolutely obsessed with this adorable heart hoop from This Bean Spins! What better way to tell a hula hooper you love them?! (aside from shouting it from the rooftops, of course).
And if you’re still a little unsure on buying a hoop for someone, you can’t go wrong with a gift card from a fab hoop vendor. That way they can choose the hoop that they’ve been eyeing up themselves.
2. Hoop classes
Never underestimate the power of education as a gift! Locally or virtually, access to hooping classes makes a wonderful and thoughtful Christmas present.
Post-pandemic, it’s easier than ever to learn from your favourite hula hoop instructors online.
You can attend live classes on Zoom, like a HulaFit class with one of our fabulous instructors, or get a ticket to the amazing online hoop convention Cyber Swhoop with Emma Kenna (aka Hooping Mad) and her line-up of incredible instructors!
A lot of instructors also produce on-demand videos. Our very own HulaFit director Carla has a huge directory of hooping tricks, techniques, and flourishes to download.
Platforms like Patreon also allow you to pay a monthly subscription fee and have access to regular tutorial uploads from hoop teachers, such as international expert flow artist Taylor Flows.
3. Clothing
So you’ve got the gear and the skills? Well, now you need the swag to go with it! Before buying any clothing as a Christmas gift, do your best to find out their sizes and measurements.
For all your comfy hoopy clothing needs, check out the HulaFit t-shirts and hoodies. A big, snuggly “Peace, Love & Hula Hoops” hoodie will go down a treat when you’re getting cosy on Christmas day.
We also love BlueBooby for dreamy hoop clothing. Not only are their leggings bright, bold, and beautiful, they are also non-slippy and hooper friendly, yay! Plus, they have some awesome Christmas prints.
Top tip: remember that if you’re daring enough to try fire hula hooping, clothing should be made of fire-friendly natural fibres like cotton and hemp.
4. Hoop storage
Are you the practical present buyer? This one’s for you. It’s all very well having 100 beautiful shiny hoops, but where are they going to live?! Hoop storage solutions are the perfect problem-solving prezzies.
Check out these hoop huggies from Mighty Mims. The hoops tuck inside, and the elasticated fabric keeps them all neatly stacked and protected.
These hoop hangies from Hoop Planet are fabulous for keeping hoops strapped together for hoopers on the go. You can hang them on a backpack, bag, or use them at home too. Any hooper will tell you that hoops seem to have a mind of their own, and before you know it one’s on the roof, you left one on the train, and the rest are splayed out across a 1-mile radius.
And now for one of our favourite at-home storage hacks… bike racks! Mount them on the wall for an easy and effective new home for your hoops.
5. Stocking stuffers
Last but certainly not least, the all-important stocking fillers! The small but mighty Christmas presents.
We love this hula hoop tricks card pack from Penny Farthing’s shop. Perfect for when you want to spice up your flow and find some new inspiration. You just pick a card, and experiment with ways in and out of that trick. If it’s a trick you’re unfamiliar with, each card also has a QR code that links to a video tutorial of that trick.
Top off the stocking (or even tie the top!) with a super cute scrunchie. Hula hoopers are notorious for losing hair ties. If your hooper has hair, this one’s a sure-fire winner.
We hope you love our top 5 amazing gifts for hula hoopers this Christmas! Now, what are you waiting for? Share this with your friends/family, don’t make them guess what you want for Christmas!
